휴먼 ICT 융합학과는 인간 중심 ICT(모바일, 네트워크, 인간친화적 지능화)를 기반으로 하여, 스마트 라이프 문화이해, 디자인적 감성, 마케팅능력을 함양하여, 스마트 케어를 위한 감성인지 UI/UX의 새로운 가치를 창조해 내는 “휴메니어” (휴먼+엔지니어) 양성을 목표로 한다.

Speaker Biography
JeongGil Ko received his Bachelors in Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in computer science and engineering from Korea University in 2007 where he also was an undergraduate research student at the Wireless Data Communications Laboratory from 2005 to 2007. He received his Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Computer Science from the Johns Hopkins University in 2009 and 2012, respectively. At Johns Hopkins, JeongGil Ko was a member of the Hopkins interNetworking Research Group (HiNRG) led by Dr. Andreas Terzis. In 2010, he was at the Stanford Information Networking Group (SING) with Dr. Philip Levis at Stanford University as a visiting researcher. He is a recipient of the Abel Wolman Fellowship awarded by the Johns Hopkins University in 2007. He is an author of 40+ peer-reviewed conference and journal publications and serves as a TPC member and reviewer for many renowned conferences and journals. His research interests are in the general area of developing wireless embedded systems with ambient intelligence for the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber Physical Systems (CPS). Since June 2012, JeongGil Ko is with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) in Daejeon, Korea.

Abstract
This talk will introduce my research in designing wireless embedded systems with ambient intelligence. Specifically, under the concept of designing well-working systems for human well-being, this talk will introduce three different systems, each targeted for different application domains. First, the MEDiSN system targets to automate the patient monitoring process in hospital units and also for at-home physiological data monitoring. Second, VoCell targets to provide an application development environment for vehicular networking applications using smartphones. Finally, the ChildSafe system targets to provide a baseline system for designing children’s safety applications using 3D depth cameras. This talk will introduce these computing systems and motivate the need and attractiveness of IoT-oriented systems research in various application domains.
